SAMBA DOMAIN CONTROLLER

1. Ensure samba is installed and running by 'services samba status', if not download from the Package Manager Add/Remove Section of Fedora 7 – Gnome.

2. Install SWAT the same way.

3. The Samba configuration file is located at /etc/samba/smb.conf , make a copy of it before letting SWAT work on it.

4. The SWAT Configuration file is located at /etc/xinetd.d/swat. To enable SWAT, make to changes to the config file: - the 'disable' parameter must be set to 'No' to accept connections; - make sure the line 'only_from = 127.0.0.1' is there.

5. Make sure xinetd is installed and running. (service xinetd status)

6. Start SWAT service by 'chkconfig swat on'. Then open web browser and go to address http://localhost:901 to start using SWAT.

7. Follow the steps below for Samba PDC. Add 'Valid Users = %U' wherever possible.
