Have you ever experienced frequent intermittent internet connection with your linksys wireless AP? This is what we came across with the linksys WAP54G access point. We have received complaints from our client, saying that they have to frequently restart the AP just to stay connected. By typing a simple command via Windows command prompt you can notice the issue.

As you can see the the internet connection is very erratic, the connection goes up & down for no apparent reason

We've check out the firmware at Linksys website, but sadly there is no availabe patches for this particular AP. We thought it could be an external issue (not anything to do with the AP) due to the fact it is place in a enclose room area, but as we research further on other websites, they also have encountered the same thing. In some reviews it is clearly mention that this particular product have intermittent connection. I would like to quote one of such site " One thing to note though: the Linksys WAP11 or WAP54G may have intermittent performance and to some degree unreliable in access point mode, but they're far more stable if you pair two units in a wireless bridge setup."  taken from this link http://cc.up.edu.ph:8082/main/reviews/wap54g.html.

We have then replace the AP with another brand known as ENgenius and it works like charm. We will provide a review on this AP in the upcoming post.
